Nestled within a citrus garden in Seferihisar, İzmir, Payamli House is a contemporary reinterpretation of a rural cabin designed with simplicity, economy, and local craftsmanship at its core. The primary design approach focused on meeting the client’s needs through the most efficient and cost-effective use of space, materials, and construction methods. For this reason, the material palette was intentionally limited, relying largely on locally sourced materials and labor.
The spatial organization is structured around a central living axis that connects the interior directly to the surrounding gardens and stream. This backbone minimizes circulation space while clearly separating private and communal areas, allowing daily life to unfold in continuous dialogue with nature. Living spaces open to both the front terrace and the rear courtyard, creating layered transitions and uninterrupted visual connections to the landscape.
Natural light, air, scent, and seasonal change shape the experience of the house. Custom shading elements woven from local reeds, simple handcrafted details, and a restrained palette of plaster, wood, stone, and dark aluminum establish a calm, sensory-rich environment. Payamli House offers a quiet architectural backdrop where nature remains the true protagonist.
