Located in Bornova, İzmir, İpek House is a 500 m² residential project rising within an urban garden plot. Its three-storey volume is defined by a contrasting material palette, where the dark anthracite concrete and metal-framed ground floor is balanced by rust-toned, corten-like composite panels on the upper levels. Grey vertical fins positioned between these two layers provide solar control while introducing a rhythmic texture to the façade.

The volume gradually steps back towards the garden, creating a series of outdoor spaces connected to greenery at each level: a pool and seating terrace at ground level, a semi-open balcony on the middle floor, and a landscaped rooftop terrace enclosed by glass balustrades. This vertical garden composition maintains a continuous visual dialogue with the birch trees and dense landscape surrounding the residence.

At the entrance, a stone-lined courtyard with a shallow reflecting pool forms a semi-outdoor threshold that defines the circulation spine of the house. A corner glass window connects the courtyard to the kitchen and living area, bringing the surrounding greenery into the interior. Dark timber kitchen cabinetry and integrated shelving are balanced with concrete-effect flooring and copper and brass accents, creating a calm yet distinctive atmosphere. The bathrooms continue the same material language, with floating stone vanity units, round mirrors, and concealed lighting creating a minimalist spa-like character.

Ultimately, İpek House can be defined as a contemporary urban villa that softens its hard, industrial exterior materials—corten, concrete, and metal fins—through lush terraces and water elements, creating a layered and immersive relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
