Located within a citrus orchard in Seferihisar, İzmir, Payamlı House is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of a rural cabin. The primary design criterion was to meet the client’s needs in the simplest and most economical way possible, minimizing material variety while making use of local materials and craftsmanship.
The spatial layout is organized around a central living axis that establishes a direct relationship between the interior, the garden, and the stream. This spine minimizes the need for corridors while clearly separating private and shared spaces. The living areas open onto both the front terrace and rear courtyard, creating layered transitions between spaces and uninterrupted connections with the surrounding landscape.
Shading elements made from locally sourced reeds, custom-designed timber details, and a restrained palette of plaster, wood, stone, and dark aluminium create a calm and sensory atmosphere in harmony with nature. Payamlı House offers a tranquil living environment where architecture recedes into the background, allowing the surrounding landscape to become the defining element of the experience.
