The coastal views and steep topography of Çeşme form the primary drivers of Tonga Houses. Rather than dominating the landscape, the project is conceived as a series of horizontal platforms carefully embedded within the contours of the site. This stepped configuration allows each residence to benefit from uninterrupted sea views while keeping the buildings visually integrated into the natural silhouette and strengthening a sense of privacy.

Defined by clean lines, neutral materials, and simple geometries, the architectural language deliberately recedes to place the landscape at the forefront. Rotated and shifted platforms frame terraces, create shaded areas, and establish a strong spatial continuity that extends the interiors towards the horizon. Open, semi-open, and enclosed spaces flow seamlessly into one another beneath a unified roof plane.

Circular voids carved into the floor slabs bring daylight deep into the levels, create visual connections between floors, and enrich the perception of space. Through its sensitive response to the topography, Tonga Houses offers more than a collection of residences—it creates a holistic living experience shaped by a continuous relationship with nature.
