Located in the Ula district of Muğla, Ula House is a 250 m² single-storey residence that brings together the region’s rural character with a contemporary architectural language. Composed of seemingly independent volumes connected by courtyards and narrow passages, the house draws from the fragmented settlement patterns of traditional Muğla houses. Gabled roofs with anthracite tiles and earth-toned plaster surfaces establish a visual continuity with the surrounding olive groves and agricultural landscape.

At the heart of the residence lies a private courtyard defined by a circular wall opening, or oculus. Framing an olive tree, this architectural element acts both as a symbolic focal point and as a threshold that preserves privacy. Walls and shaded seating niches create a soft transition between interior and exterior, while stone-paved paths and gravel garden areas connect the individual volumes. The landscape is shaped around local vegetation, including olive trees, lavender, agave, and ornamental grasses.

Inside, white plaster surfaces, aluminium frames, and grey ceramic flooring create a calm and spacious atmosphere, complemented by a high-ceilinged living area, fireplace, and skylights that bring daylight deep into the interior. Bedrooms feature a warmer palette of earth-toned walls and woven accessories. Outside, a swimming pool and timber deck adjoining the residence create an outdoor living setting designed for use throughout much of the day, while night lighting highlights the courtyard and landscape elements, reinforcing the character of the house after dark.

Currently under construction, the project aims to create a quiet, texture-driven rural living experience that combines traditional materials and architectural forms with contemporary standards of comfort.
